Call2Recycle Launches in Vermont with State House Event

Call2Recycle's Vermont battery stewardship program officially launched with an event at the Vermont State House on January 28th. WPTZ-TV, and VT Digger were on hand for the event and ABC22 /FOX44 , The Burlington Free PressAssociated Press and VPR.NET also covered the program launch. Agency of Natural Resources Secretary Deb Markowitz, State representative Tony Klein, Andrew Sirjord chairman of the board for Call2Recycle, and Jennifer Holliday of the Vermont Product Stwardship Council explained the goals and impact of this first-in-the-nation recycling program for single-use batteries.

This event also served as the announcement of Call2Recycle's Vermont school battery recycling challenge, a contest designed to increase awareness of battery recycling among students. All Vermont schools, grades 5 and 6, were invited to participate in a 3-week school recycling challenge during March.
